About Cynthia
I am a Filipina-American counselor, born and raised in San Francisco, CA to immigrant parents. The person I am today is not only because of my education and work experience, but is a result of life lessons and the people I have met along the way. I was the first in my family to attend college and graduate school. It wasn't until I was older (and wiser) that I was able to take notice of the complexities of what it meant to grow up in two different cultures (Filipino/American). Further more, with being in a mixed culture marriage, I can relate to the constant learning and adjustments which are necessary to make a relationship grow and flourish. I pride myself in being a culturally conscious counselor, because your personal history matters to me in our work together.
So, just like I bring all of who I am into the room, I invite you to do the same.
And...for those of you who are interested in knowing about my educational background, I received my Bachelors of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Social Welfare and minoring in Asian American Studies. My Masters of Arts and Masters in Education was completed at Columbia University in the Psychological Counseling Program.
Now that I have told you a little bit about myself, it's your turn to share.
