About me
I am a Filipina-American counselor, born and raised in San Francisco, CA to immigrant parents. The person I am today is not only because of my education and work experience, but a result of life lessons that have pushed me to seek further training to offer support to the clients I serve. I was the first in my family to attend college and graduate school. It wasn't until I was older (and wiser) that I was able to take notice of the complexities of what it meant to grow up in two different cultures (Filipino and American). Furthermore, being in a mixed culture marriage, I can relate to the constant learning and adjustments which are necessary to make a relationship grow and flourish. I pride myself in being a culturally conscious counselor, because it is important for my clients to be seen, heard, and understood at the beginning of our work together.
And...for those of you who are interested in knowing about my educational background, I received my BA from the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Social Welfare and minoring in Asian American Studies. My Masters of Arts and Masters in Education at Columbia University in the Psychological Counseling Program.
I have over 14+ years in providing mental health services to the community and university students.
